Written by Chris Porter, this is the story of one mans journey through life, under the guidance of his boyhood hero 'Merlin'.
Originally written in 1993, the story that everyone refers to as 'Syllabus of Magic' was in fact a chapter taken from a book by the author called 'Personal Journeys'.
I, Neil H, read the book and asked Chris if I could produce an album of music inspired by the story.
 
In 1997 I released what would be my fifth album 'Syllabus of Magic - Merlin's Quest'.
A few years later l invited Chris into the studio to narrate the story and create an audio book for the special deluxe release of the album.
Twenty years later after the original release, I invited Chris to write the next part of the story, where would  and how would the connection with Merlin feel now, twenty years later.
And so the album 'Return to Magic' was produced, that also included an audio book of the story.
Finally in 2023, on the 30th Anniversary of Chris and I working together on various collaborations, Chris wrote a final chapter that became the album 'The Magic of Now'. 
An audio book version was also created which featured both Chris and myself narrating as the characters in the story.
 
This book contains the three chapters and also includes the three CD audio books.
